Description This angel is named after its collection locality, the upper Rio Negro around the small town of Santa Isabel, Brazil. Although it is called an altum, it’s not a true altum as being part of the Pterophyllum scalare family. They can grow up to 23-24 cm in height, so they prefer very high tanks. They are generally peaceful, but you should consider keeping them with similarly sized fish. The ideal tank for this type of fish will have slow moving, acidic water full of tannins, driftwood or rock formations. Recommended tank parameters: Temperature: 26 to 32 degrees Celsius PH: 4.5 to 8.5 KH: 0 to 8 KH Minimum tank size: 60-70 liters
