HSS Bright Finish BSB (Brass) Hand and Machine Intermediate Tap. These general purpose taps are ideal for creating new threads in a wide variety of materials. Goliath HSS taps provide a high hardness to toughness ratio, compressive and tensile strength, good abrasion resistance and resistance to micro-chipping, ensuring a long tool life. British Standard Brass – brass tubing has a uniform wall thickness, irrespective of the tube diameter, therefore any thread cut on, or in, it needs to have the same depth, so 26 TPI is standard on all BSB diameters. BSB is often confused with BS Cycle thread, the difference being that brass thread has an angle of 55º whereas Cycle is 60º. Recommended tapping drill: 11.8mm
